Tic Tac has launched a new interactive augmented reality campaign in Times Square, called Shake It Up. The interactive billboard (located on Broadway between 46th and 47th) encourages millennials to use their smartphones and the Tic Tac Times Square application to explore new, unconventional ways of doing daily activities. Users will download the Tic Tac Times Square app to scan the static billboard ad. Once scanned, “imagery on the phone switches to show the user’s face on a magazine cover or on a “Vote For” sign, with the app automatically taking a user’s Facebook picture and inserting it in various ads.”
Tic Tac believes that by making the ads about individuals, the consumers will pay more attention to the ads and engage with the brand more. The Shake It Up campaign will be introduced into other cities, including an out-of-home presence via transit ads and bus shelter ads. Mobile will have a large roll in all ads moving forward, as Tic Tac believes that mobile is the backbone of connecting with their 18 to 35 year old target demographic.
In order to get started, Rox readers can download the app by texting keyword NYC to the short code 313131 or download the app directly from the Apple or Android store.
