According to a new “Email Marketing Metrics Report” by MailerMailer 12.5% of unique marketing emails were opened during the second half of 2008. The figure is down from the first half of 2008, when 13.2% of emails were opened.
Interestingly enough, messages sent to small and medium lists had the higest open rates, while emails sent to lists over 1,000 weren’t opened as often.
In terms of the industry leader in click-through, first are religious and spiritual organizations, then telecommunications and finally travel companies.
So, lesson is, even if you aren’t the largest company, your small email list could still work to your advantage. Just remember to make your email the less-spammy as possible and even offer your consumer a discount or coupon for opening your email. This will train them to continually open your emails because they know it is worth their while.
Enjoy your weekend!
