Twitter has just announced that their micro-blogging service will integrate with Google’s Friend Connect service. This partnership is very beneficial to Google because Google was very lacking in the “friend” portion of their Friend Connect. Now, Google can offer active Twitter members access to their friends. It will also make Google Friend Connect more appealing to websites who are debating whether to use Google Friend Connect or Facebook’s new and similar service, “Facebook Connect.” Facebook Connect allows members to use their Facebook account across the Internet. Facebook and Google urge their members to sign up for these connect services so the companies can better keep tabs on how their users behave across the Internet. This knowledge will make these “connect services” more profitable because they can charge advertisers a premium to advertise to a very targeted demographic.
